HND Business

This course has been designed to develop a broad range of skills required for employment in a variety of industries. Past students have gained employment in banks, local Government, the health service, manufacturing and retail or self-employment. It also offers excellent opportunities for progressing to a wide variety of university courses.

The first year of the course incorporates the HNC.

Selection process information

Year 2 Entry

The College is accepting applications for direct entry onto year two of the HND Business. To be eligible for year two, you must have 15 relevant credits from year one, including a relevant HNC. For information and to apply, click here>


Entry requirements (minimum)


  • Two Higher passes at band A-C, and
  • National 5 English (or equivalent) and a numeracy-based subject at a similar level, if these are not passed at Higher level
    OR
  • NQ in Business or Accounting along with an exemplary reference from your current college 
  • Applications are also invited from those without formal qualifications who have relevant life and/or work experience
  • An interview may be part of the selection process.

Progression routes

  • The HND has a strong managerial focus which enables candidates to progress more quickly to supervisory/management roles. 
  • Successful students may progress to a range of degree programmes at Glasgow Caledonian University, University of the West of Scotland and many others across the UK.

Applications are made to a course and a first choice of campus. If the course is oversubscribed at your first choice you will be automatically considered for alternative sites and may be made an offer without a further application.
