HND Accounting

This course is designed to give students a broad range of skills within the discipline of Accounting. A variety of subjects are studied which will introduce and illustrate the links between the primary functional areas of Accounting such as economics, finance, management, information technology and law, as well as addressing key employability skills required for Accounting and personal development.

The first year of the course incorporates the HNC.

  • Graded Unit project and exam
  • Personal Development Planning
  • Company Law
  • Business Contractual Relationships

Entry requirements (minimum)

  • Two Higher passes at band A-C, and
  • National 5 English (or equivalent) and a numeracy based subject at a similar level, if these are not passed at Higher level
OR
  • NQ in Business or Accounting along with an exemplary reference from your current college 

Applications are also invited from those without formal qualifications who have relevant life and/or work experience 

An interview will be part of the selection process.

Progression routes

Successful learners have the opportunity to study at a wide range of higher educational institutions where entry point will vary depending upon the specific institution and the degree programme chosen. Typically, successful HND Accounting graduates will be able to access the 3rd year of degree programmes at a variety of universities.

For those studying at Langside Campus, there is an opportunity to study as a 'Pathway Student'.  As a 'Pathway student' you will study HND Accounting with us at Langside Campus, while preparing for year 3 and 4 (for Honours) of the BA (Hons) Accountancy at Glasgow Caledonian University.
