City & Guilds Award Floristry - Beginners Level 1

This course is designed for those seeking employment in floristry but who have no prior experience. It is a City & Guilds Level 1 course (floristry option).

Course content

The course is made up of two units:

  • Unit 116 Assemble basic floral designs
  • Unit 113 Identify flowers, foliage and plants  

You will learn how to identify flowers, foliage and plants in common commercial use and create floral designs for weddings, funerals and gift arrangements in foam and hand tied using gift wrap.

Throughout the course your assessments will consist of practical and theoretical tests.

Entry requirements (minimum)

  • Basic communication and numeracy skills are essential - all applicants will be asked to undertake a numeracy and communication aptitude test at interview.

Progression routes

  • (City & Guilds) Level 2 Diploma or Certificate in Floristry. We offer these courses on a full-time and part-time basis.

For courses starting in August 2017, you can make up to two applications.

Applications are made to a course and a first choice of campus. If the course is oversubscribed at your first choice you will be automatically considered for alternative sites and may be made an offer without a further application.
