Screen Printing

This 12 week course is suitable for those interested in the printmaking process and anyone building up a portfolio of work.

The course will introduce you to a wide range of methods and techniques involved in the screen printing process from the preparation of screens, image separations, photographic and direct mark-making techniques. Using your own imagery you will develop and produce a small edition of your own screen prints.

Course content

  • Prepare and/or select an image suitable to use as a source
  • Develop your ideas in preparation to print 
  • Learn to prepare stencils and prepare screens for printing including using photo emulsion
  • Use a range of techniques in preparation to print – including photographic and digital images on to film as well as hand drawn imagery made using traditional painterly washes
  • Work with blending and multi-colour printing, registering techniques, editioning, fine line and half tone printing.
  • You will produce small editions of your prints in addition to experiments using mono print techniques.

Progression routes

This course would help you build up a portfolio of images which could help you towards applying for an art related course.
