The evening course will focus on preparing students for the Cambridge First Certificate in English exam.
It will provide tuition in a wide range of English language skills:
The course also covers essential exam techniques.
Cambridge First Certificate is an internationally-known qualification. It proves that you can use everyday written and spoken English for work and study purposes and has widespread recognition in commerce and industry.
The CAE exam itself will NOT be available at Langside. Exam is an extra £135 and not included in course fee.
This course is eligible for SDS Individual Learning Account (ILA) funding. If you are using an ILA to fund / part fund this course, please call 0141 272 3276 to enrol. We're unable to accept ILA funds as a deposit.
This course is designed for people for whom English is not their first language, and who would like to develop their language skills in order to pursue a career or to be able to undertake study in a non-ESOL subject.
This course is intended for learners for whom a qualification which is recognised world-wide is desirable.
Learners will have considerable competence in English, but need to improve their language skills in order to make the progress in study or in employment which they aspire to. Ideally students should have an SQA National 5 qualification (or the equivalent).
On successful completion of the exam which is payable separately and will depend on the student being accepted for entry, students can apply for SQA ESOL Higher (ESOL Advanced), Cambridge English: Advanced, or progress onto non-ESOL courses.
This course will not run unless there are viable numbers.
