Access to Communications 4 Literature 1

This course will help you improve your communication skills in writing, reading and analysing text from literature or articles, active listening and speaking to an audience.  This course will prepare you for studying at SCQF level 6. Successful completion of this course will allow you to move onto the Communication 4/ Literature 1 class that is offered as an evening class. 

Course content

Reading articles: You will be taught how to recognise what the writer is trying to convey and how to communicate your understanding of articles that you have read. 

Reading and analysing Literature: You will be introduced to reading literature and how to respond critically to reading.  This involves developing your skills in reading, analysing and evaluating a variety of literary texts from different genres which will help you develop a high level of analytical reading skill. 

Writing: You will be taught how to communicate in writing in a way that gives the reader a clear understanding of the purpose of your writing. 

Active Listening: You will also be taught the skill of active listening and given guidelines for speaking to an audience.


Entry requirements (minimum)

You should have the equivalent of SCQF level 5 English to attend this course.

Progression routes

Successful completion of this course will allow you to move onto the Communication 4/ Literature 1 class that is offered as an evening class.
